Constantine Head
Constantine Head, HD Dutch Harbor

Constantine Head was the site of a triple base end and spotting station, two searchlights and some support buildings. The base end stations included B'''4, B'''3 and B''1 each station occupying a different level of the 13 by 30 foot wood frame structure. The two searchlights, numbers 5 and 6, were housed in corrugated 'elephant' steel shelters and directed from wooden Distant Electrical Control stations, or DECs, located near by. The generators for the searchlights were installed at the base of the cliff, in concrete and steel shelters.

The rugged nature of the site makes exploration difficult. The searchlights and base end station are built into the cliff on small ledges with no safe access. Presumably during occupation there would have been wooden stairs and walkways connecting the installations. The distillation plant and searchlight power houses are at beach level and accessible, although badly damaged by erosion.

There are two generators on the beach near searchlight power house #6. They may be the two 7½ KVA Koehler generators that supplied general power to the area.
